fishladder accident today?

i was walking up after a falls run followed by surfing at odeck, went to look at the fishladder to see how it looked with the water lower. this guy said that a few minutes earlier, a boater had gone down in a blue kayak and gone under the log above the 4th slide. then the guy said he didnt see him for 10 seconds or so, but then he 'came up upside down down there and he was ok' I couldn't really tell if that meant he had rolled up or had swam or went down the 4th slide upside down, or what. my assumption was that somebody must have run it without scouting, and had the cruel surprise of a lifetime. it looks like enough water is going under that log that you might under it without having to swim, but you never know about branches or stuff like that. anybody know anything about this??

I went over it today at about 1pm. What an adrenaline rush after hitting the big curler between the 3rd and 4th slides, and then seeing that log with a ton of wter going under it. It makes a horrible slot on far river right between the log and wall. I was lucky. It wasn't there a few weeks ago when I ran it, and you really can't see it until the last moment. I guess I musta left before the guy in the blue boat got worked. Lesson: scout the fishladder even if you just ran it yesterday! I hope the guy's OK

that must have scared the crap out of you. luckily if you see the nubs of those branches early enough you can 'boof' the log at the top - left onto a rock or into a little eddy. there is a piece of wood there though. is that what you did?
