Uploading Photos - large version missing

Just uploaded my first photo. The original was 1024x768 and 220kb. For the gallery it has been resized to med of course but the large original image is not available when you click on the med one.
Are there some limits to the original uploaded image size?

Actually the system just got altered so that there is no longer a large image.
