Local Paddler primarily uses Windows Media Player format for all the videos. The older videos on the site may be mpegs but the newer ones are definitely Windows Media files with the extension: .wmv. The reason that Local Paddler chooses to use Windows Media format over all others:
Through alot of research we have found that this formats performs better than Real Player, Quicktime, and Mpegs. This format also downloads a whole lot faster then the other formats.
If your browser won't open the videos on Local Paddler then the default settings on your browser are set for some other format. To change those settings you must right click your browser icon on your desktop and then click on properties. Then change the video program to Windows Media Player.
If you don't have Windows Media Player then you can download it at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9Series/GettingStarted//Download/download.asp
The above download is series 9 of WMP and is the best and free to download. Remember once it is downloaded you will still have to change the settings on the browser that you are using.
If anyone has any extra feedback regarding this topic, it would be greatly apreciated.
