The floods in early Jan., 2005 changed some drops in Ernies Canyon on the N. Fork of the Snoqualmie. Most significantly, the last drop of Raft Catch has a new log in it making it a mandatory Portage. The boof on river R. has a log in the landing zone. The drop above this boof has also changed. It probably has changed for the better, but until the log can be moved, I would portage both of these drops (recommended on the left shore). The log in Room of Doom has also moved downstream. The line remains the same, and may even be easier, however the consequense of missing the line might be more consequestial. You can see this change from the eddy above the drop. There is also a small stick in Bruce's Boil (the last rapid) on the top left, visible from the eddy. All the other rapids looked the same.
The boof in Raft Catch is difficult to scout. One person in our group ran this drop, and was lucky enough to come through ok. Its was definately a lesson learned for our group, that no matter how well you know a run, (and we were even looking for new wood, etc.) a hundred scouts not needed, is worth one unscouted rapid that needed a scout.
Be careful out there.
