Competition in North Alabama in March

NORTH ALABAMA WHITEWATER FESTIVAL

On March 11th, 12th, 13th we will be having the first annual North Alabama Whitewater Festival. Alabama Small Boats has stepped to take care of the financials and some of the other stuff. The river is water dependent but we have a great great water table this year. We figure if there is ever a year to do what we have always wanted now is the time. We will have CASh purses and also tons of prizes and entertainment.
Fridays Events:
On Friday we will have a Freekstyle event: freestyle off the waterfall, and a Boatercross: groups of 4 racing down three rapids until a winner is decided. Because of river access we will have to paddle the river. There is a lake paddle at the end but it will be worth it. We are going to make this event seperate from the weekend events because some people will not be able to come down on Friday to participate. One thing we want to tell people about this spot is there will not be much spectator watching because of an anal retentive land owner. This event will be held on Short Creek Falls, You can go to alabamawhitewater.com and there are pics, logistics, etc.... As for rewards, here we will give away trophys and other prizes.

Freekstyle: Freestyle off the waterfall. This waterfall is a no brainer. Very very deep pool that is 50 feet wide. You can do any and every downriver move with a soft landing.
Boatercross: The next rapids down will have the boatercross. It is three rapids back to back to back that are typical southeast creek rapids. We have also thought of getting people to do something original. Like maybe like ten of my friends with high powered water shooters or throwing water balloons on the banks.
From there we will go camp on Kings Bend campground about 35 minutes away. This is super close to all possible event locations for Saturday and Sundays events.
Saturday Events
On Saturday morning we will have a meeting to let everyone know where are gong and how to get there. We will either go to the
Locust Fork Ender Hole, which is the best hole I have ever been in. You can do anything and everything in this hole, and I do mean everything. We would have two separate competitions here. This place is also good for spectators.
1- Big Trick Contest - The biggest trick ride, not one move, however we will give out something for one single biggest move
thought maybe having round robins
2-Throw Down Winner - the point is to throw as many cartwheels as you can. spilt wheels etc... any move that is not aerial.
Mullberry Fork, If we have to go to the Mullberry Fork (A.K.A. BABY DRIES). We will have the Big Trick Contest at a wave called Lunch Stop, You can do almost every wave move here that is possible. Very possible to link wave moves together. We would then paddle down to Hawaii Five-0 to do the rest of the competition. Here we are going to have a Freestyle through a Rapid. This rapid is a 1/4 mile long and at the right level it is possible to take 30 minutes to run the rapid so having a freestyle through a rapid here would be great. This place is great for spectators.

2. Freestyle Through a Rapid On the Mulberry at a rapid call Hawaii 5-0. You will get only one run down the rapid. So Go BIG or GO HOME. You could possibly do all your hole waves and all your waves moves in one freestyle through a rapid. .

On Saturday night we hope to have LVM there the show the new Issue and then we will tell finals. From there we will have a band playing and more partying
Sundays Events
Finals
.
Let me know what everyone thinks.
