What are thoughts about solo boating? I have never done much, but lately been thinking about experimenting with it? In the past it has never been appealing, because I always find the group interaction so much fun. But I have been tempted lately with times I want to boat when no one else can go? Solo on middle middle....probably not a big deal? What about FITW? Ernies? Paradise?

Curious to hear thoughts on the subject.

I only do it when there is no other option. I am definitely not against it. You gotta do what you gotta do and that might be boating by yourself.

Aside from just the positive group interaction, having other people around is a safety net when something goes wrong. Notice I didn't say "if" something goes wrong - because inevitably it will. When the shit really goes south I'd like to think I took the best precautions available, and that I can rely on my buddies to help me out. Self-rescue skills are crucial, but sometimes that's not enough.

That said, I think there is a time and place for solo boating. For myself I stick to park & play and very low consequence runs. Middle middle, Paradise - no prob. FITW is iffy, leaning towards no. Ernies - not for me.

If you go solo, tell someone where you're going and when you plan to be back. Have fun and be safe.
