We use the Thurmond Gauge. The dries flow is the Thurmond level - 10,000 cfs.
However, when discussing levels, we refer to Thurmond...we don't do the "conversion"
So, these are the levels you want @ Thurmond
18,000 and up for the run
26,000 - 38,000 for the three middle put in waves
39,000-55,000 for the river right, or IRBGS waves
55,000-68,000 for the HUGE middle wave
Keep in mind that the bigger levels (35,000 and up) are full on Class V playboating. If you do the run, go with someone who knows it, as there are holes as large as a house out there and you can't see them until you are dropping in. Even some of the best playboaters in the world (Tanya Shuman, Deb Pinniger for example) swam this fall, and those were warm days. Temp in Fayetteville will be 40-50 this week. Swims could be long, cold and very dangerous. If you are a good class V paddler, comfortable on big water, then bring it! If it comes in, that is....
