16th Annual Potomac Watershed Clean-Up - Help us take out the trash in Mather Gorge and along the Billy Goat Trail:
Experienced paddlers are needed to help clean-up the shoreline from Mather Gorge down to Difficult Run rapids.
Join the Annual Potomac Watershed Clean-Up Saturday, April 3, from 9a.m. to noon. Sponsored by the Alice Ferguson Foundation, last year's Potomac clean up involved nearly 4,000 volunteers at 125 clean-up sites in 4 states, and netted 127 tons of trash. For more background information, you can visit

For those inclined to hiking, volunteers on foot will meet at northern/upstream trailhead for the Billy Goat Trail, section A.
For paddlers, the site leader will coordinate in advance with volunteers on their preferred river access point. To reach the site leader during the clean-up: cell phone 240-274-0476.
Trash bags will be supplied. Gardening or work gloves are recommended.
