That day on the New River Dries was a super fun paddling and hangin out day. We were all really lucky to have caught those waves at that level. I personally had more fun watching my friends loving life and surfing than anything else. -Luke

Both Kirk and Jennings are too...once you paddle the production ZG 48 you will understand.

....I promised myself that for 2004, whichever kayak company was going to come out with the best freestyle boat, I'd be paddling for that company. After trying Jimmy's production ZG 54 on a wave, and then in a hole, I knew this was 'the' boat that I simply had to be in. I was shocked by its performance, so I switched. Simple as that. I'm stoked to be working with these guys now - a truly great group of people. PS nice site Luke! I can't wait to see what it evolves into....

You will definitely see me this summer at Skook. I may even try and make it out there this spring in April. I am looking forward to paddling with you. -Luke

hey man here's the april schedule, it begins getting decent on monday april 5th - at 2:10 pm its 12.3 knots ---thats slack, it peaks at 4:50 pm
april 6th - 2:55 pm its 13.2 , peak at 5:40
april 7th - 3:40 its 13.9 , peak at 6:35
april 8th - its 4:25 at 14.3 , peak at 7:30
april 9th - 5:10 at 14.4 , peak at 8:30
april 10th - 6:00 at 13.9 , peak at 9:30

So later in the week its pretty late but still doable. The wave is good for air about an hour after slack, and for about an hour and a half/two? after peak. I'm not positive how good it is after but i think thats relatively accurate enough. Right now it is getting dark around 6:30, so by april it'll probably be getting dark around 7/7:30 (in the city) I've found you can paddle into the dark pretty well since its such a more open sky, if its a nice day it seems to have light quite early and late... I'm not sure what your plans are, but if you are comin out for just skook for a week or so this might not be the best one, but if you have another reason then it should still be pretty good - just maybe not worth the plane ticket if its the only reason. Anyways let me know what the plan is, or if you need anything else. Talk to ya later

Tell James that I just posted some pictures of his ugly mug on the Gallery. Check out the last couple of page for some good James Moles action on Skook.

hey man can you email me and i'll send em to you...my addy's o_dawg1@hotmail.com

james and i just decided we should cut down on the worldwide invitations to skook cuz its getting so crowded....call us selfish but we're not trying to say people can't come, we're just trying to cut down on telling people about it. Except for luke, james says you still can't come:p But seriously, i think you were there luke weren't you, when there were 60 boaters?!?!?! thats not to bad on the ottawa or something, but theres only one feature there so its getting pretty shitty to sit around for half an hour to wait for one 30 second ride. Anyways gimme a shout and ill hook you up with whatever you need, sorry for the inconvenience

i can see the repllys now...dunno why

The New River Dries Gallery is getting huge with tons of awesome shots...check it out.

New River Dries Gallery (67 pictures and video) (http://localpaddler.com/gallery.php?keywords=dries)

A number of these shots were taken at 20,000 cfs and at 55,000 cfs. These two levels are really good, but in reality, just about every level is a really good playboat level on the Dries.
