Im not too sure, My x lived up there for a summer, said there was a lot of water falls near junea, but they came off of glacial creeks.... So kayaking off of glaciers.... She said it rained a lot. Also heard of a lot of tital rapids... similar to skook. My friend said there was a wave over 100 yds wide...... ask the local fisherman, they would know best...

I went up there last summer and did some kayaking. And Theres actually quite a bit, almost all creeking(except for the bore tide in the huge bay below Anchorage, which you can surf on for up to a quarter mile.) I ran six mile creek outside of Girdwood, and it was really fun class 5. I would try to get in touch with class five outfitters in girdwood, AK(30min from Anchorage) Or the only kayak shop in Anchorage, I can't remember the name -sorry. Theres also a pretty good guidebook to all the whitewater in the state that the shop in Anc sells. Hope this helps. Dave George

I thought six mile was kind of crazy too, until I saw a bunch of rafts putting on. After seeing that I decided to give it a shot. I was visiting my girlfriend, so I borrowed a desiel and followed the rafts down. Always a safe bet I thought, luckley it turned out great. I really want to do it again. Later some guys were out in the bay trying to catch the bore tide on surfboards( we did not stick around to see if they caught it). Dave George-Wave Sport

I am currently in Alaska and have managed to get a good month of paddling in. There is a lot of good paddling up here, but it is all pretty rowdy and involves lots of driving, hiking and or air planes and motorized boats.. when you get here give me call. josh 719-486-5500. The paddle shop is alaska kayak and the owner george is super cool.. 907 522 7710
